Louis Ifeanyi Nzegwu is a Professor of Marketing at the Lagos Business School. Prior to joining the Lagos Business School Faculty, Professor Nzegwu was a Professor of Marketing and the Executive Director of the International Business Resource Center (IBRC) at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville (UW – Platteville), for over two decades and on the faculty of Business Administration at Alcorn State University, Lorman, Mississippi from 1981 until 1991. He also held visiting Professorship positions at the University of Dubuque Iowa USA, Wartburg College USA and University of Kigali, Rwanda.

Louis Nzegwu teaches a variety of marketing courses, including Sales Management, Marketing Management, Pricing Marketing Research, and Global Marketing courses, amongst others. Nzegwu earned his Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Nova Southern University, MBA from Morgan State University, M.Ed. from University of Southern Mississippi and MSc in Agricultural Economics from Alcorn State University.

Nzegwu has authored, co-authored and presented numerous papers; served as paper reviewer and panelist at several state, regional and international conferences; and acted as textbook consultant to publishing organisations. He is a recipient of several teaching excellence and academic awards, including University of Wisconsin highest award for Excellence in Teaching, 2019 Emerald Literal Award for Excellence, the 2019 AIB Africa First Place Case Award, the 2018 UW- Platteville Excellence International Education Advisory Award, and the 2007 University of Wisconsin System – Underkofler Award for Teaching Excellence.

In 2007, Nzegwu was named a Wisconsin Teaching Scholar by the University of Wisconsin System, an honor given to outstanding faculty members in the University of Wisconsin System. In 2006, Nzegwu led the UW-Platteville IBRC to receive the State of Wisconsin’s distinguished Governor’s Export Achievement Award—an award presented to organizations that assisted Wisconsin Businesses achieve significant improvement in promoting exports.

He was also awarded the 2004 UW – Platteville Teaching Excellence Award and 2005 College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture (BILSA) Thomas and Lee Ann Lindahl Teaching Excellence Award. In 2002, and in 2003, the American Marketing Association honored Nzegwu with the distinguished Teaching Innovation Service Award. In 2002, Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum recognized Nzegwu as one of Wisconsin’s 100 top researchers.

A recipient of numerous external and internal grants, Nzegwu was honored as a “Wisconsin Idea Fellow” by the UW System Board of Regents for his contribution in helping to improve the quality of life in Wisconsin through his international activities.

Nzegwu has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa and has taught a variety of executive programs in Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong. In addition to teaching, he has consulted for several organizations: both profit and non-profit and has been involved in a series of management development programs with market planning groups, especially in global business strategies.

Nzegwu, past president of the Platteville Rotary Club, is listed among Who’s Who in the Midwest, Personalities of the South, Personalities of American, and Who’s Who in Emerging Leaders of America and holds several memberships in professional associations, among these are: The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, The American Marketing Association, Academy of International Business, and the Academy of World Business., Nzegwu

His research interest is in the areas of marketing strategy, product development, marketing entry strategy, consumer behavior and sales enablement. He has served on the editorial board of The Journal of African Business, as Associate Editor of the Emerald Emerging Market Case Studies as well as on the advisory board of the Academy of World Business, Marketing & Management. Nzegwu is an Emeritus Professor of Marketing with the University of Wisconsin, USA and fellow of The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
