The Circular Lagos Project was initiated by Lagos State in collaboration with the Circular Economy Innovation Partnership in December 2020. With a strong commitment to action, the Ministry of Economic Budget and Planning (MEBP) of Lagos state convened the Circular Economy Working Group, which, in addition to the MEBP, includes the Ministries of Science and Technology, Environment, Technology, Health, Education and the Special Advisors on Innovation and Technology and Sustainable Development Goals.
The mandate of the working group is to champion and work with stakeholders on circular activities that increase business and investment opportunities.
As business opportunity and investment opportunity are a core pillar of the Circular Lagos ambition, the Circular Lagos Business Platform represents business interests and facilitates business development and investment opportunities for local and international companies that offer circular products and services.
It is thanks to the support of GiZ/SEDIN, the Consulate of Netherlands in Lagos and the Enterprise Development Agency of the Netherlands that the vision of Circular Lagos: a space where people from within Lagos and without can learn and take advantage of business and development opportunities, where ideas can be exchanged and co-creation takes place through events and related projects. The infamous Dutch and German appreciation of “direct dialogue”, also mean that Circular Lagos is a space where the challenges we face to grow circular opportunities are constructively raised and resolved.
The Circular Lagos Secretariat is currently managed by the Circular Economy Innovation Partnership.
